WhatsApp Web offers WhatsApp is adding an extra layer of security to its desktop web app after noticing an increase in usage following the addition of multi-device functionality.
Users who chat via WhatsApp Web, which no longer requires a smartphone connection, can now install a new browser extension to boost their security.
The browser extension is call Code Verify and is an open-source tool built in partnership with Cloudflare. The idea is to confirm that the WhatsApp code you’re using hasn’t been modifi or tamper with. WhatsApp says the protections for browser users aren’t as secure as standalone apps because the code can reach users without being verifi.
In a blog post from WhatsApp’s parent company Meta
The company wrote: “There are many factors that could Bahamas WhatsApp Number List weaken the security of a web browser that don’t exist in the mobile app space, such as browser extensions. Additionally, because the mobile app space was built after the creation of the web, the security guarantees offer on mobile may be stronger, particularly because third-party app stores review and approve every app and software update.”
WhatsApp says Code Verify works through Cloudflare by WhatsApp Number Database cross-referencing a code provid by WhatsApp with the code that’s currently running in your browser. It’s actually pretty simple. If everything is fine, a green light tells you to continue. An orange light advises you to refresh the game. While a red light means something is wrong.

“Once install, Code Verify will run automatically when you visit. WhatsApp Web and act as a real-time alert system for the code served to you on WhatsApp Web. Pinning the extension to your web browser toolbar will allow you to see its results without any additional steps.”
For now, this extension is available for Chrome and Edge, and Firefox will be available soon. However, there is nothing to report on Safari at the moment.
