The battle for instant messaging apps just heated up. Just a day after Snapchat announced a slew of new offerings at its virtual Partnership Summit, news has started trickling in about WhatsApp’s upgraded search capabilities and a slew of other new features.
Various reports published on . A blog that tracks developments around WhatsApp. Suggest that the search feature would allow users to identify messages using dates. The instant messaging app, owned by Facebook, already supports in-chat search. Which does not allow users to search for a message sent or received on a specific date.
The feature currently in alpha development
Would allow users to filter results from other dates, but it remains to be seen how many of us would be able to remember specific dates or time periods when messages were exchanged.
Screenshots provided by WABetaInfo indicate that a calendar icon will appear once the company rolls out the feature. The icon appears just above the keyboard about the chat search on Pakistan WhatsApp Number List WhatsApp for iPhone. Tapping the icon opens the calendar where users can choose the month. Year, and date to search. There is no indication that the feature will be coming to Android, but WhatsApp has always launched new features on both platforms in the past.
That’s not all. WhatsApp could also be preparing a redesigned storage usage section that allows users to view large files that are stored upon receipt. There is also reportedly a transferred files option in storage usage that helps users filter files that have been transferred via the messaging app. It seems that WhatsApp is taking user complaints about storage issues very seriously.
Whatsapp Delete all messages except favorites
The Storage Usage section also seems to have a Sort by Available Images option which suggests an ability to view photos shared by a contact. We hope this feature gives users the ability to WhatsApp Number Database sort photos chronologically as well as by file size. This would go a long way in curating images and weeding out those that carry everything from memes to motivational messages.
Additionally, WhatsApp also seems to be working on a Delete message option through which users can delete all messages except the starred ones. The screenshot share by WABetaInfo suggests that a Delete All Except Starre option would be place next to the Delete All button. A similar Delete All feature could also be in the works for Storage. Where users can delete all messages except the starre ones.
Share Chat plays on WhatsApp
In another report, the blog states that WhatsApp could have a dedicated player for ShareChat videos that could play videos seamlessly within the app, just like Instagram and YouTube videos can currently do. In other words. Picture-in-picture format for ShareChat videos could be another feature set to launch on WhatsApp.
The picture-in-picture format was introduce in January 2018 for iPhone users and quickly expande to Android after that. It include support for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube videos Bulk Database last year and with developers looking to bring the same format to Share Chat, it seems WhatsApp is gearing up to make it easier to play all types of videos.
Other features that are reportedly in development include a web image search for iPhone users that could go a long way in reducing the spread of misinformation. A similar feature for Android has also been in testing for a while now. But there is still no update on that front.
All the new features mentioned by WABetaInfo are reportedly in the testing state and may undergo several tweaks before actually rolling out to WhatsApp. In the past, the blog has been largely accurate with its predictions. So we believe that some. If not all, could become a reality soon.
