WhatsApp launches Facebook-owned WhatsApp to integrate digital payments into mobile messaging service, starting in Brazil
Facebook on Monday added a digital payment feature to its WhatsApp messaging service, starting in Brazil but with an eye on expanding globally.
WhatsApp users in Brazil can use the encrypted mobile messaging service to send money or make purchases, Facebook said in a blog post.
It was the first time that the payment platform use on the main social network was integrate into WhatsApp.

“Payments on WhatsApp are starting to roll out across Brazil starting today and we can’t wait to bring them to everyone,” the service said.
Sending money or making payments is a free option for WhatsApp users, but businesses will have to pay a processing fee equivalent to that charge for credit card transactions, according to the messaging service.
