Changing Template Categories in WhatsApp Business API

Dear customers and users of WhatsApp Business API, we would like to inform you that until June 1, 2023, you have the opportunity to change the category of templates for business dialogues with the audience. As a reminder, as of April 1, 2023, all existing templates in WABA were automatically assign categories.

At the moment there are 4 types:

Services. This category includes templates that contain information about payments, transactions, receipts and subsequent operations after payment;
Authentication. This category includes all templates that contain one-time passwords and codes for logging into services, etc.;
Marketing. Templates that belong to this category inform Armenia WhatsApp Number List customers about upcoming promotions, sales, special offers, etc.;
Support. The dialogue will be relate to this category if it was initiate by the client.

The cost of a dialogue depends on the category of the message template that start the dialogue.

We recommend checking which categories your templates have been assign to in WABA. This can be done in your 360Dialog personal account.

How to change template categories in WABA?

If after checking you find that you do not agree with the categories that were automatically assign to existing templates, you can change them. We will tell you how to do this now.

For WABA accounts whose numbers were added via Embedded SignUp or Integrate Onboarding, you can change template categories by going to WhatsApp Manager in Facebook Business Manager* .

Next, after the list of numbers connected to WABA opens, select the number for which you want to change the template categories. Then click on “Message templates” . In the information WhatsApp Number Database message “Message template categories updated” click on ” See all updates ” .

After this, a window will open with all the templates in which the categories have been changed. Now you can select a template and assign it a different category from the drop-down list.

These actions must be verifi and approve by the service moderators.

Until the new category is agree upon, the cost of the dialogue will be calculate base on the category that was assign automatically. For WABA accounts whose numbers were add under the On Behalf Of Classic model , in order to change the template category, you need to create new templates and only then assign categories to them.

Please try to check all assign categories for message templates in WABA before the end of May and, if necessary, change them before June 1, 2023. From the beginning of summer, the tariff for dialogs will change, which will be calculate base on the new template categories.
